If tomorrow is Christmas Eve, is today Christmas Adam?

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Citizens

Citizens is from Seattle, Washington, and are based out of Mars Hill Church. Born in the heart of Seattle’s University District, Citizens has quickly built a reputation for their dynamic hymn arrangements and high-intensity anthems. Deacon Zach Bolen leads the band with a visible emotion and passion that stems from a desire to see everyone in the U-District worship Jesus as Lord.

The Joy Ride 12/20/13

Josh Millwood - Friday, December 20, 2013
It's just too much! Only a handful of sleeps til Christmas!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Downhere

"We live in an age when the most basic assumptions of orthodox Christianity are being challenged. As a younger band we wrote a lot of songs aimed at pointing out problems and tearing down things that we believed were wrong. But now, at this stage in life, we’re much more interested in going back to the beginning, and using our gifts to reaffirm and shore up the foundations of the faith. We want to be a part of building up the church and preserving the culture."

Downhere is actually from up there - Canada. Jason and Marc - co-lead singers of Downhere - met in college and have been laughing, writing and playing music together for over a decade. It's that friendship and sense of calling that keeps Downhere plugging away, even though the past decade has been anything but kind to the recording industry.

Though the band has parted ways, the guys remain steadfast parts of each others' lives - and continue to produce musical expressions of their faith journey.

Josh Millwood - Friday, December 20, 2013

It's Friday!! Only 5 days left!

Verse of The Day

Fear not, o land; be glad and rejoice, for the Lord has done marvelous things! Joel 2:21 (KJV)

Amazing Fact

About one third of the human race has 20-20 vision. Glasses and contact wearers are hardly alone in a world where two thirds of the population have less than perfect vision. The amount of people with perfect vision decreases further as they age.

Scriptural Pursuit

Q: How many days was Jonah in the belly of the great fish?

A: 3 days (Jonah 1) Congrats to Josephine in Painter, VA!!!

5 more days...

ARTIST OF THE DAY
NewSong

After 30 years and 20 #1 radio hits - NewSong is still pushing the limits to reach a new generation for Christ. Members have come and gone - and some fresh young musicians have joined the core group to produce a sound that is both fresh and classic NewSong.

When Eddie Carswell and Billy Goodwin, who continue to lead the evolving group, started out in 1981 at Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia, neither of them imagined NewSong would repeatedly outdo itself for so many years. Now the guys are headed into their fourth decade of music and just keeps getting better!

A few years back, NewSong released a Christmas song that saw tremendous cross-over success. It spawned a Hallmark movie, plus sequels. That song was The Christmas Shoes. Perhaps one of the most polarizing Christmas songs of all time. If you love it, you really love it. If you hate it, you believe it is a blight upon humanity. There is no middle ground. But the success of that one song has gone on to bankroll the group for nearly a decade.

Trend-Setters: NewSong founded and continue to tour as a part of WinterJam. This massive multi-artist American tour brings Christian music's biggest acts to cities all across America and never charges more than $10. The goal - to bring the best music to everyone - and provide an incredible time of worship for the whole family!

Joy in The Morning 12/19/13

Josh Millwood - Thursday, December 19, 2013

Verse of The Day

Don't be afraid of those who want to kill you. They can only kill your body; they cannot touch your soul. Fear only God, who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are more valuable to him than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 10: 28-31 (NLT)

Amazing Fact

The human brain cell can hold 5 times as much information as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Scientists have yet to settle on a definitive amount, but the storage capacity of the brain in electronic terms is thought to be between 3 or even 1,000 terabytes. The National Archives of Britain, containing over 900 years of history, only takes up 70 terabytes, making your brain’s memory power pretty impressive.

Scriptural Pursuit

Q: God asked Jonah to go and preach against what city?

A: Nineveh (Jonah 1) Congrats to Paulette in Cambridge, MD!!!!

LESS than one week til Christmas!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Natalie Grant

Natalie Grant is an award winning singer and songwriter. She won four consecutive Female Vocalist of the Year Awards (2006-2009) at the Dove's and is never far from the top of the charts. In fact, her latest single Hurricane became the #1 most added song to Christian radio in its first week of release!

Born in Seattle, she currently lives in Nashville with her Canadian music producer husband, Bernie Herms, and their three daughters which includes a set of twins.

Beyond her artistry, Natalie Grant is an advocate for victims of human trafficking. Abolition International, which Grant founded in 2005 under the name The Home Foundation, has raised over a quarter of a million dollars to fight the trafficking of women and children for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

Next year on the Game Show Network, Natalie will host a show called It Takes A Church... - an 8 episode competition for a churches across the nation to play match maker for a single church member.

Verse of The Day

For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone. Psalm 91: 11 & 12 (NLT)

Amazing Fact

Your nose can remember 50,000 different scents. While a bloodhound’s nose may be a million times more sensitive than a human’s, that doesn’t mean that the human sense of smell is useless. Humans can identify a wide variety of scents and many are strongly tied to memories.

Scriptural Pursuit

Q: Martha, Mary, and Lazarus lived in what town?

A: Bethany (John 11) Congrats to Carol of Georgetown, DE!!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Barlow Girl

Since releasing their self-titled debut in 2004, sisters Rebecca, Alyssa and Lauren Barlow have continuously inspired fans with intimate portraits through music. The focus is always on sharing what God has placed on their hearts. whether that be through a song on an album, or talking with a group of young fans for hours after a concert.

At the start of 2013, the sisters announced they were ending their run as a band. Obviously they are still sisters - just heading in different directions.

The girls' dad Vince Barlow is a pastor at Willow Creek Community Church outside of Chicago. Becca, Alyssa and Lauren got their start playing as his backup band for youth events. A lot of their lyrics deal with issues like eating disorders, self-mutilation, abortion, prayer and self-worth.

9 more days...

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Michael W Smith

Michael Whitaker Smith was born October 7, 1957 to Paul and Barbara Smith in Kenova, West Virginia. Michael was a typical boy – active in baseball, his family’s church activities, and playing piano. He wrote his first song at age 5 - but as a child, he longed to be a professional baseball player!

In 1982, Michael was asked to play keyboards in a band that was backing up young artist Amy Grant. Michael toured and wrote with Amy for years before launching his own solo career. In 1989 his song Go West Young Man began what would become one of the most legendary careers in Christian music.

2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Smitty. His new album is slated for the Spring and he's inviting his fans along for an Alaskan Cruise this summer! You can't go much further West than that, Michael...
