ARTIST OF THE DAY
Seventh Day Slumber

Seventh Day Slumber is both a Christian rock band - and a worship group. Think Kutless. They rock - for sure. But they also want every concert and album experience to be grounded in worship. And this Texas based band has reason to worship - God has delivered them from much.

Lead singer Joseph Rojas tried to commit suicide following a cocaine binge in the mid-90s. He says that he became a Christian while being taken to the hospital in an ambulance. The result: immediate life change. Rojas formed Seventh Day Slumber in 1996 and after a half a decade of independent life, the band got its big break with BEC Records.

This Dove award winning group gets their name from Genesis 2:2 where on the seventh day, after creating the universe, God rested. Their heart is to share with the abused, depressed and scared the rest that comes from relying on Christ - accepting His forgiveness - and living a life full of hope and love.

Joy in the Morning

Verse of the Day

So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
Ashes Remain

Ashes Remain’s Josh Smith and Ryan Nalepa (guitar/keys) met one summer leading worship at a youth camp located in rural Maryland - not too far from Gettysburg, PA. Over the course of that summer, Smith and Nalepa had a feeling that God was calling them to walk down similar paths. Desiring to be obedient to God’s will, Smith and Nalepa committed to pray together each day throughout the summer, asking God that if He wanted them to form a band to make His will known to them.

Months later, Smith, back in Florida, received a phone call from a church in Maryland inviting him to lead worship full time. It just so happened that the church was ten minutes down the road from Nalepa.

The band's Fair Trade Services debut What I've Become was written mostly for teenagers, from the perspective of what it is like to feel as if there is no hope, where you are your own worst enemy and ultimately what it looks like to go from that very real and dark place to one where there is hope and step into the light.

That journey from dark to light isn't always a swift one and sometimes has to be walked many times, but it is a journey that the band is familiar with and feels called to go on with their fans.

As lead vocalist Josh Smith puts it, “We’re just broken people who need Jesus.”

Sounds Like: Ashes Remain sounds like early Kutless, a smidgen of Pillar with a dash of Skillet. Hard-hitting rock with a heart for worship.

ARTIST OF THE DAY
The Digital Age

Once upon a time there was a collective of Texan musicians who led worship all across the land. They innovated Christian music for nearly fifteen years, sparked revolutions in worship music and inspired countless lives for Christ. They were the David Crowder*Band. But all great things must come to an end, and the journey of this pioneering group is no different.

But in it’s stead, four men who were core members of DC*B formed a new outfit with a vision for the future. They became: The Digital Age.

That year, she was also nominated for a Billboard Award and four Dove Awards, going home as the Dove Awards New Artist of the Year.

Jamie Grace has since landed her first feature film (as Rachel in Grace Unplugged), co-hosted the Dove Awards pre-show and released her sophomore album!

Jamie got her start by posting covers and original songs onto her YouTube channel - capturing the attention of TobyMac. She still posts a LOT on YouTube… like a lot, a lot.

Awesomesauce: Jamie was fan-voted onto a limited edition 7-Up can. Becoming the first Christian artist to become “7-Up” can famous. That’s just a hop, skip and a jump from “Beatles” famous.

for King & Country

Joel and Luke are brothers. And they have five other siblings as well. One of whom is Rebecca St. James. Though born in Australia, they were raised in Nashville, TN and on the road with their concert promoting father and Christian music superstar sister. They were literally born into the music industry - like royalty.

Luke says, “We want to deliver a message that is about believing in something much bigger than oneself. You can confidently go through the ups and downs in your life because you know that life isn’t all about you and what you do but rather the hope and salvation of Christ.”

The Bible: Millions watched the epic mini-series on The History Channel - and millions heard music from for King & Country - they were featured in commercials for the television event and on the official soundtrack!

Mahwadge: Last summer, Joel married long-time girlfriend Moriah Peters - an amazing Christian singer/songwriter in her own right!
