The Joy Ride

The weekend will be here before you know it!
Don’t miss out on all that’s happening in your community - check out the Joy Notes!

ARTIST OF THE DAY
August Rain

August Rain began as a few song collaborations between drummer Frank Bowen and then guitarist Josh Kirk in 2009. The musical style and easy friendship turned out a stellar independent album, landing August Rain on television and as the opening act for a national tour.

In 2010, Matthew Janzen became the lead singer of August Rain and ultimately that change broadened the musical style of the band - catching the ear of Third Day’s Mac Powell, who sings a duet with Matthew on the band’s latest album.

The unique appeal of the music is its ability to reach people with a spiritual message without invoking a "preachy" style. Their goal is to give the listener an experience that goes beyond the immediate - something that sticks with you and makes you think, but with a smile on your face.
