ARTIST OF THE DAY
Chris August

Chris August is a native of Dallas, Texas, and is a veteran of the music industry, even if Christian audiences are just now getting to know him. Before releasing his Christian debut in 2010, he toured as a keyboardist for Ashlee Simpson and other mainstream artists.

Mad Skillz: Chris is a self-taught pianist, guitarist, and producer.

While he is not one to shy away from writing about his faith, Chris isn't afraid to embrace relationships and heartache in his songwriting. Chris cites influences such as Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, and Gavin DeGraw who all contributed to the polished pop/rock sound that is sure to resonate with all who listen.

His latest album The Upside of Down is more focused on faith than any previous projects. Shortly before finishing the project, Chris was in a severe skateboarding accident that nearly killed him. When he woke up in a hospital, Chris was struck by how quickly life can be taken away and that fuels his passion now, more than ever.

Name Game: August is actually Chris' middle name.
